Viola's Notes - Sing, Play and Dance!
Viola's Notes
About the Program
Viola's Notes is a multicultural music and movement program created for young children. It is greatly influenced by the Orff approach, child development theories on play, and Viola's experience working with young children. The program reflects developmentally appropriate practice and is founded on a strong belief that all children have musical potentials.
During class children will explore traditional children's songs, classical, folk and world music through singing games, rhymes, fingerplays, creative movement, folk dancing, storytelling, instrumental jam sessions, body percussion and improvisation. Attending the class will expose children to important aspects of music-making, such as: moving in rhythm, listening, singing in various tonalities, developing social skills, learning about fast and slow, soft and loud, as well as using music and movement as forms of self-expression. During group music time children will learn about different cultures and experience the important social and musical aspects of sharing music and making music together.
  • Viola's Notes offers classes in East Bay Preschools, as well as afternoon and weekend Music Classes for Families in English.
  • Viola also offers Italian Immersion Music and Movement Classes for children and families.      Viola Pellegrini, born and raised in Florence (Italy), holds a Bachelor's Degree in Child Development from Mills College. She has received extensive training in music education from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, holds a Level 3 Orff Certification from the International San Francisco Orff Course and has completed two years of Suzuki violin teacher training. She has also taught preschool for seven years and has been a private music instructor for the past 16 years.
Viola views herself as a perpetual student, committed to continuing her own music and movement education.
Viola's approach is committed to giving children a quality music and movement experience by nurturing every child's unique learning abilities in a fun and rich musical environment. She hopes to inspire children to develop a lifelong enjoyment and appreciation for music and cultures from around the world. Viola's long term goal is to give back to the community by setting up a scholarship fund. Viola is currently involved in raising funds for Pole Pole a humanitarian organization which provides healthcare and educational services in Kenya. In 2014 Viola volunteered in Kenya teaching English through music.
Viola plays violin, piano, ukulele and recorder, and is constantly adding new instruments to her repertoire. In addition to English, she is fluent in Italian, and German, and is working on her Spanish. In her free time she enjoys attending music and dance events, learning new instruments, cooking, practicing yoga and traveling around the world. Viola also performs with an Italian Folk group called PizziCali and a contemporary ensemble called 41Street Quartet.
